About the BAM
North America
Conference

Real business. Real mission.

The BAM North America Conference gathers everyone who works in businesses, including owners and senior leaders, employees and team members, investors and advisors, professionals, and the students and emerging entrepreneurs coming behind them. Everyone is welcome, gathered around one conviction: the way you run a company can change the lives of the people in it and the place it sits in.

01

The movement

Business as mission isn’t new. Christians have built companies with the intention to love others and spread the Good News of the Gospel for centuries. What’s new is a global movement giving that work a name, a framework and a community.

02

A calling expressed through business

The movement begins with a simple conviction: running a business can be a calling from God, just as pastoring or teaching can be. When a company is run well and honestly, it can:

  • Give people work they can be proud of.

  • Pay wages that support a dignified life.

  • Reach people a church may never meet on a Sunday.

When that work is done for God’s glory, business becomes a form of mission: the Great Commission carried into the marketplace, where many people spend most of their waking hours. The church sends people into the world, and business is one of the places it sends us.

Who we are

The BAM North America Conference

The BAM North America Conference is the annual in-person gathering of the business as mission community in North America. Rooted in Vancouver and reaching across Canada and the United States, we exist to do one thing well: help everyone who works in a business, owners, leaders, employees, investors, professionals and the next generation, make the business itself the mission.

We do that by putting practitioners on stage, by building the program around real decisions, and by connecting people who will still be in each other’s corner a year from now. Owners work through decisions about people, profitability, growth and succession. Investors and advisors consider how capital, counsel and governance can back commercially sound businesses that love others, love God, and pursue the Great Commission. Professionals find ways to put faith into practice through the teams and projects they influence. Students and emerging entrepreneurs learn from people who have built what they hope to build.

We’re a volunteer-led, non-profit initiative, building a community of businesses that bless the places they operate.

03

Our relationship with the local church

We’re a not-for-profit initiative, not a church. The people we serve belong to local congregations. For churches, we’re a practical extension of discipleship: a way to equip members for their weekday responsibilities, and to send them back more engaged, with businesses that bless the communities those churches serve.

04

The people behind it

The BAM North America Conference is led by a volunteer board of business owners, investors and ministry leaders who give their time because they’ve seen what a business can do when it’s run for God’s glory.
